Intermountain GP10 pre-production photos
Posted by IowaDCC on Sunday, August 30, 2015 8:38 PM

After what seems like YEARS of waiting, Intermountain has finally released some pre-production photos of their much anticipated GP10 model.  www.intermountain-railway.com/ho/html/GP-10-Samples.htm

I am optimistic (naïve) that they will deliver these in February as their website state.

I think the photos show promise.  Your thoughts???

The hot rodded first gen geeps (Paduka Rebuilds - for one) have been such a staple in the real world that it is shocking this hasn't been a standard product offering by all mfgs with a wide early geep line. (Atlas??)

Hope it does as well as expected. (IAIS version coming? N version coming)

To answer your question, yes they are producing an IAIS road version. I do not believe they are producing an N scale version at this time.

It is funny that no one has produced a GP10 in either HO or N scale.  There are still plenty of them roaming the country on many railroads after all of these years.  It seems that you can not kill these things.   They just keep rolling along.

I think it is safe to say that Athearn did very well with their CF7 and Topeka cab GP7s; two rebuilds that also made it into the shortline market on the prototype. Would be nice if they would make these in N scale.

Hopefully, Intermountain will do well with their Paducah Geeps.

Remember the tin can; the MKT's central Texas branch...

Looking good.  I'd definitely be interested in one.  I hope at least one version has operating directional ditch lights for us modern shortliners.  Road name doesn't matter. I can always rub out the lettering for representing second or third hand ownership.

I agree, Athearn did an awesome job with the GP7 rebuilds. I really would like to see them do a Genesis GP-10. They could do so with a little retooling of their Genesis GP-9.  With IM producing their GP-10s first, I doubt Athearn will spend the money on the rebuilds...
