Vermilion Valley RR - Short Line
Posted by Doughless on Thursday, June 4, 2015 8:35 PM

I thought I knew about every short line in Indiana, but I stumbled upon this one a few days ago.  I like short lines because they tend to have interesting track arrangements from using the left over main lines they run on, and interesting equipment.  This one is no exception, and I like the heritage paint on the shoving platform.  Could be modeled as a nice spare bedroom layout.  I don't think the railroad has even one runaround.

And apparently, they are going to use two F9's in their operation, or for something.

Enjoy I did..

What's not to like about a short line?  The great  Lucius Bebee once stated "A short line is such a down home thing"..I couldn't agree more.

Thanks for sharing.

F units?! That's pretty cool. I may have to get over that way sometime. I live within a couple of blocks of where more of the old P&E line is further west, in Urbana. NS operates it now, but nothing as exciting as F units.

Also, just to note to avoid confusion that Vermilion has just one L the way it's spelled by the RR, but often has two Ls together in use elsewhere in the area for place names, etc.
