Question for Bob H Clarion Pa
Posted by conrail40 on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 11:28 AM

Maybe you or others can help me a little. I model Conrail in the early90s around Lock Haven  Pa . There is a train designation WNRE at first I thought this to be a Newberry to Renovo turn, however further research shows its Newberry to Reynoldsville and return.AS this train would have to come off the lowgrade at driftwood and come down the buffalo line it would pass LH so IM curios was this coal or general merch.???   Also while I have your attention  where did the UMP coal train operate to and from??

Any current train coming out of Reynoldsville area will be Coal.

The coal may be loading at Lady Jane mine just east of Subula/Dubois area.

There is another mine on the Lowgrade line but it runs occassionaly and I am not sure the name of that one.

I am not familiar with the UMP coal train - what do the letters stand for?

I model the Lowgrade line from East Brady to Driftwood but in the 75 - 85 time period so there was way more traffic on that line back then!

UMP was a unit coal train for PEPCO in Morgantown, MD. Probably Unit Morgantown Pepco or Unit Maryland Pepco

YES - that is quite a jaunt.

Although we do have a couple of I-80 members from State College and Clearfield that do make a trip in for a number of my Saturday OPs Sessions.

I have had the Penn State Club up for an OPs Session a couple of times too!

PM me and I could put you on the I-80 Groups e-newsletter so you can keep current with our activities!
