I was riding the Paoli Local home from Phillie the day of the welcome home parade when the Flyers won the 2nd Stanley cup in a row. The celebration continued on teh train until the conductor had the police meet the train at Radnor and remove a couple passengers.

Had a long drive today and as the evening began, I started fishing for St. Louis Blues Hockey. THEN I REMEMBERED! [:(] It was just such a natural thing for me to do. I hope this ends soon. [:(]

You'll have your star soon, SRVfan. What I miss are the old Northstars. Saw the best hockey match between them and the Chicago Blackhawks years ago at the old "Madhouse on Madison" on Chicago's Westside. Oh dear, [:O] now I'm reminiscing--that's what happens with hockey withdrawal. [(-D]

Heck, the union and owners aren't even talking---baseball took a big hit when they cancelled a World Series several years ago, I don't think hockey could recover completely if they wipe out an entire season.

For the love of 5 minute majors, I hope this is resolved soon!

no offense to you hockey fans but i could careless. i'm more of a football and college hoops fan. i laughed so hard when i heard there was a lockout. maybe they'll show more bowling and poker.

i can't watch TV while running trains so it doesn't matter, i either have the TV on and am listening to it or i just turn out the tunes and listen to that.

No offense to you Hawks, but college hoops just isn't the same since every freshman thinks they can go pro, or even worse, some of the high schoolers who skip college and declare for the draft. Kevin, Kobe, and LeBron are the exceptions rather than the rule. It's tough for a college program to have success, because if they do, it seems as if their players immediately bolt for the NBA.

I do love hockey, but college football is my favorite--looking forward to Georgia vs. Auburn Saturday. Don't particularly care for NFL--don't see a lot of passion for the game there. Heck, I'd rather watch McNeese State vs. UL-Monroe any day!!

Hawks--POKER and HOCKEY?!?!?!?!? [%-)] Seriously, it does tend to be a bit arcane. But I've always said, if you like hoops (esp. college), then you oughta like hockey. It just never works out that way. [(-D]

As far as professional sports, it seem that baseball and hockey players are more into the game, and less concerned about personal stats--see some of the fits that NBA and NFL players have if they don't get the ball.

I don't understand the fascination with watching poker, I like to play, but watching it is akin to watching water, waiting for it to boil. Just my opinion, to each his own.

As far as modelling, I hope my new engine arrives @ my LHS soon!!

I'm with you, SRVfan, college football is my favorite. But I sure like hockey when the football season (college, not pro), is over.

So to get back on topic... What else do you listen to when you work on the railroad? I pick up the Chicago sports talk stations and listen to them. I especially like 670 The Score. It ROCKS!

It's going to be a long winter waiting for baseball. I've almost forgotten how to do it, since I've had Wild season tickets since the beginning 5 years ago. Let's face it, the Gophers (football) suck, the Vikings suck, and the Timberwolves suck. I guess I better go work on the layout.[swg]

The NHL are only shooting themselves in the foot.
The players only think of the money & lets face it, no one is worth more than a million bucks to play any professional sport.
The owners finally realized that they have already shot thmeselves in the foot by paying these stupid salaries & are trying to collectively do something about it.
I don't worry about it as I spend more time with my family & doing other things than sitting in front of a TV watching a bunch of over-paid morons pass a puck around an ice rink.
I am Canadian, hockey is in my blood but the way professional sports is going, I really don't care if the NHL folds & I've always been a diehard LEAFS fan.

Just my 2 cents

I couldn't agree more Gordon (except that part about being a Leafs fan[;)]). The player's greed is killing all sports. This strike is hurting a lot of people whose jobs depend on these games being played. [B)][:(]

You know, maybe pro sports are partially responsable for the demise of hobbys in general. They create a diversion of time and money.[:0]

Want REAL sports: watch British dart championships for $250,000 prizes, now this is a sport you can play while smoking a cigarette and have a glass of beer on the table beside you, Also for all you Canadians there's always that action packed ice sport called "CURLING" that entails consuming vast amounts of rum and coke and large pieces of granite donuts with handles. Hockey --who needs it! get out those old CCM's and go out to the rink and actually PLAY some hockey , the kids will be glad to see you.

Its not just hockey players who are greedy. The hockey players see that other professional players are making more money so why shouldn't they be? Hockey players work much harder than baseball player so why are they being paid more? I miss hockey! At least i have more time for my trains

We still got minor league hockey here in West Texas. I'd much rather watch those guys than the NHL teams. These guys play with a passion that is unmatched in the big leagues! Let's not forget, that the big losers in any big league strike are those folks working the concession stands, the parking lot guys, the clean up crew etc. Yeah they don't want the multi-million dollar contract. They want to provide for their families. Funny how the owners and the players just seem to think those folks don't exist.

Hockey, I thought hockey season started in April? or is that when it matters most. With 80+ games during the season, you really only have to watch the last couple of weeks of the regular season and then the playoffs. Don't worry, we still have time to squeeze in the season.

the T-Wolves actually don't suck, now the Bucks is a team that sucks.

my favorite sport to watch is college football by far. nothing tops kids who actually want to play and actually want to win, not just play because of money. i live for college football on saturdays. tomorrow i'm almost guranteeing i will not miss a play or minute of the Badger game. i can't wait to finally go to college next year and be a part of a game.

my second favorite sport to watch is baseball. i've been playing since i was probably 5 so its basically my life. the NFL is probably 3rd. i'm a huge fantasy football player so i'm always watching the games.
