Does anyone have experience with Maple Leaf Trains? www.mapleleaftrains.com
I am looking at the F59PH. I haven't heard of the company before and want to know if they are reputable.
If no one knows about this company, do any other manufactures make an F59PH?
Modelling HO Scale with a focus on the West and Midwest USA
alexstanNever heard of them personally, Athearn does the F59PH
I believe Athearn only made the F59PHI, which is the streamlined version. I am looking for the original F59PH, which looks like an SD60M crossed with an F40PH.
Here are some pictures of an F59PH on RRPictureArchieves.
Seems to be a new kid on the block, but these are kits, not RTR.

It is a very easy mistake to make when just looking at the model numbers. The I is the only difference between two very different looking locomotives. Underneath they are the same thing. In my google searches I have found many people make the same mistake.
NP2626 There certainly isn't much information at their website. I would do some "Due Diligence”, email, call; or, write to this manufacturer and gather as much information as you can before placing an order. If you can glean some information from people here at the MR Forums so much the better. Like the others who have posted here, I have never heard of them. Where did you hear of them? Good luck!
I found them by a google search of "HO F59PH". Because I only found the website, and haven't heard of any reviews, I want to check and see if anyone had bought from them.
The 90 bucks they are asking for buy you just the body kit - you´ll need an Athearn chassis along with it.
I have found very little info on this company. They are mentioned only once on CRO Modellers Corner, announcing a review on the loco in question.
I have never heard of them either, but their web site is very primitive. No About Us page, nothing to indicate who they are. And the F59PH is a pre-order. Be careful.
I am not suggesting that they are a fraud or anything like that. It just appears that the company is a novice in the field of scale model manufacture.

The fact they show no address and /or phone# sets off alarm bells for me.
I once was going to order from a company and using Google Earth found out their address was a house. When I phoned and asked if I could come by and pick it up, they said sure but only at a certain hour as they worked out of their house and didn't want to disturb the neighbours with customers arriving at all hours. They were up front and honest and that was good enough for me.
I would ask for their address and phone# and go from there. The website presentation is poor at best.

I have purchased - along with a few other people I know - their GP9 Slug kit. Very nice kit.
Oddly enough, with a name like Maple Leaf Trains, you would assume they are in Canada, but they are actually in Israel !

I thought they based out of Canada until I saw the sentence in their shipping policies stating they are based out of Israel.
If you don't mind, could you write a little review? Also, did you purchase the kit through their website, or from somewhere else? If you bought from the Maple Leaf website, how much did shipping cost? Thanks in advance.
