Dan - your eyes must be lot younger than mine. I am still into N scale, but I am afraid I will have to go back (grow up?) to HO scale again, as my vision is left a little impaired after my recent heart issues. If I had the space and the funds - I´d even go up to O scale (!) - not the Hi-Rail stuff, but true scale. Even better would be scale 1 - with realistic sound and smoke - just watch this little video!
