I telework when I'm sick because vacation and sick days come out of the same pool and I'd rather use the day when I'm not sick.

Same for me.  And telework when its not safe to drive to work due to ice or snow.

It's been almost a year since I post this. I thought it would be nice to bring it back on with new members about their experiences about being sick. With railroading or railroading in mind.

Many times I have looked at the layout and said to myself, boy it would be nice to stay home and work/run the railroad. Then I come to my senses and go to work. If I am too sick to work, I am in bed or in a recliner. I might go online and do some train related reading but that is about it.

Never had paid sick days.  Even if you died, you had to bring in a doctor's note. Stick out tongue

Whistling

Well, for a long time in my life I had a lot of sinus issues and upper respitory infections. Unless they were very severe I usually worked through them.

However in the last year, having been diagnosed with forth stage tongue and throat cancer, I made a conscience desicion that I was not sick.  I only had a problem that I had to overcome. That remained my focus to this day and between that and my Last Mountain & Eastern RR. That has helped me enormously in keeping my mind off the Cancer and my hands busy especially while I was off work for six months. I am now back to work since June /14 and only work about 1/3rd time but enjoy the time I can spend more of in the train room.  I don't say to ignore your health, but, keeping your mind focused on other things and not thinking of yourself as sick has really worked for me.

What a coincidence, I've been sick since Sunday morning. Fever, chills, severe headache, diarrhea. Can keep any food in long :-(.Flu with sinus infection. Docs got me off work til Thurs. The only thing I've done remotely train related is open an Ebay package of HO trees. It's still sitting on the counter. Sleeping alot.

I had that last week.  I hope you didn't get it from me.

Being retired, I don't get sick days any more.   I slept until it passed.
