builder's plates for BLI Paragon2 ? ? ?
Posted by BF&D on Sunday, April 27, 2014 5:30 PM

I have a BLI Paragon 2 light Pacific and was surprised to see just a raised rectangle on the smokebox instead of an ALCO builder's plate.  I have a light Mike on order too, so I'm wondering  -  is there a source for builder's plate decals?  Wouldn't have to be too rivet counter proof, don't care about a proper builder's number, just so the ALCO (or Bladwin or Lima, etc.) show well.

I do kinda wonder about them leaving that off when Spectrum and P2K do such a good job of it.

I know what you mean! My first-run Paragon (1) NW Class A didn't have them either, but at the time, I think "Champ" decals had them, and I put them on. Another thing that really GRIPES me is the BRIGHT SILVER pilot wheels they put on so many new steamers! Why do they concentrate on SO MUCH detail, and then throw on some "CHROME" wheels?? Sure, I know they can be painted, but WHY??
