I bought a Williams scale-size Hudson for $350 from Trainz.com. I later discovered that it had some problems (bent screws, loose low-voltage regulator, stripped out threads in one of the pickup rollers) that led me to believe that the loco had been dropped and damaged slightly. Come to think of it, one of the marker lights was broken off the boiler front. Also, the tender wiring harnee developed a bad connection. I managed to fix everything, but ended up spending about $80.00 on parts.... I wouldn't buy from Trainz again.

I have had a recent experience that was exceptional with Trainz!  Delivery was fast to Europe. Item was as discribed costing 50 times this track. They provided this return policy as well.  As a businessman I have issues with individuals who reach a compromise to their satisfaction and then continue to "bad mouth" the other party.  This person had already received the goods, was too cheap to adhere to the return agreement, was allowed to keep both the good and the bad and received a refund for a positive compromise.  He then takes it upon himself to show up on this site after the deal was made-judge thyself

I don't understand why you would have a problem with how I went about things. First, they did not send me the right items. I'm entitled to receive what they advertised and nothing more. Just because their return policy states one thing, it doesn't mean I have to abide by it. It was nice of them to do it my way, and I did give them a positive feedback for it. That's how they were able to save face. I also thought I would give a little heads up to others. As it turns out a majority, which you are not one of, did have a bad experience with them. I wonder if you would have done the same if your transaction did not go well. And being in business, you should know that sometimes it's good business to go off script. And you call me cheap, that $24 was spent for a gift for my daughter.LOL. The $3 that cost them for the bad track was probably written off as a bad debt.

As I have read this thread from the beginning I have always thought the same as JDberlin but was unable to express myself near as good as he did.

I know you are right. I did feel cheap. I called Trainz and apologized for the whole thing.

The OP was giving a heads up, I'm certain it was not his intent to cause trouble. Flaming him doesn't solve anything it only worsens the situation.

trainz bent over backwards for dominic C, more so than 9/10ths of companies would have and he posts a thread titled "Watch Out For Trainz. Com."

It seems like that in many other threads similar to this, but they still appear and usually play out in the same fashion.

I'm so sorry I didn't do what you thought I should of done. First, I want to apologize to you and Trainz.com for I have gone about this bad transaction the wrong way. I should of returned the items I did not want before I got my refund. And I promise to abide by the rules and policies of any company when dealing with them. I hope this is to your liking. If not please let me know and i will try to improve on it.

And the sad thing is we only hear one side of the story.

I often wondered what the other side of the story is and we know there is always two sides and that's why I pay little heed to these topics beyond reading.

The problem with starting a thread like this is that it takes a personal issue between buyer and seller into the public domain and unnecessarily so.

I have no argument with the OP who feels wronged and did not get what he paid for.  But, from everything I read, the seller is doing its best, within its return policy, to get things right.

Nothing that I read here would cause me not to do business with Trainz.  I see nothing to "watch out for".

So, from that point of view the thread should never have been posted in the first place.

I tend to agree with Richhotrain.........

If a vendor is a "fraud/cheat/crook", then I really appreciate the fact hitting the forum.   But otherwise, it just isn't the right thing to do - in my opinion of course.

I have Tranz blocked on my ebay account.  From my personal experience, they are not to be believed.

Years ago, I either ordered something from their website or bid on one of their Ebay items, after several days and some investigation (by me) it turns out they'd already sold it. I was unhappy that I had to do the leg work and that I missed out on what I thought was a good deal, but this happens (in)frequently enough from other sellers. I have ordered from them since and all was fine. But they had a collection of O scale brass that there are reports on another forum of hideously poor packaging leading to damage and a full refund!!! That was only one buyer, they probably had a dozen pieces for auction; I wonder if all the pieces from that collection fared as badly.

I never buy from dealers with high shipping or less then 99%. Why 99%?  Because there are the few that can't be pleased regardless.

I seen one dealer have a rare Bev-Bel/Athearn 50' boxcar for BIN of $9.99 but,the killer was the shipping-$9.55..Way to much.I've had 4 cars  shipped for that from a different seller..

No one twists your arm to buy from any one dealer. I also have a store list that I use.
