For those of you who may get an appetite for traveling to Switzerland, just a few bits of information:

Traveling by train is the best way to discover Switzerland. The rail network works like a Swiss clock and takes you anywhere you´d like to go. Traveling by train is cheap; a Swiss rail pass for two adults/8 days/2nd class unlimited travel is only 384 CHF, that´s about 450 USD. Not included are some mountains railways, like the Gornergrat Bahn, Jungfraubahn and Furka Dampfbahn.

Food, Beverages and lodging in Switzerland is not only expensive, but VERY expensive. As a rule of thumb, you need to calculate with 300 USD for a double bedroom and 30 USD for a rather frugal, but good meal.

In general, the Swiss are friendly, but thrifty people, who perfectly understand how to make more than just a buck!

I found the best way for a vacation in Switzerland is to rent a Chalet (cabin) in a nice place and go on day trips from that place. Renting a cabin is still "reasonable" - about 800 USD per week for 4 - 6 persons.
