Posted by southern154 on Monday, November 11, 2013 7:40 PM

Does anyone know of a Broadway Limited Southern Railway 2-8-2 #4501 for sale (green and gold)?

Thanks for the input!

That's just  a link to the BLI web site and the product page.  That is not available as a direct purchase from BLI.

You might try this link to an eBay sale that ended with no bids.  Contact the seller to see if he wishes to sell it to you.

Rich,

I appreciate, you bringing that to my attention, but that was not my point in showing the pic. Price, it's available, the rest is up to you. I can't spend anyone's money, they have to do that on their own. ''how about this one'' is asking a question, I recall him saying, green and gold, the one shown, looks like green and silver,to me.

Frank, don't get your dander up.   Surprise

He asked if anyone knew where the #4501 might be available "for sale".  It is not available for sale on the BLI web site.  In fact, it is difficult to find it for sale anywhere at this time and that is not surprising.  The Southern Mikado, in its dress colors, is much sought after by modelers.  His best chance may be to negotiate with that eBay seller that I referred him to.  That individual does have the #4501 available.

Southern actually painted its freight locos black, but when it started running excursions, it went to the green and gold color scheme.  That may be why the OP differentiated, although BLI only produced the Southern Mikado in green and gold.  That silver that Frank referred to was the standard color on the front of the boiler.

Here are some photos of the real deal.

Thanks so much, but that item was sold about a week  ago, it was a little expensive for me. Has anyone seen one at their local hobby shop or something? Thanks for all the input!
