der5997 - Terminology is the key, but remember we are talking RR, not something else! Hump Yard is just that Hump yard. Single car distribution to 30 or so class tracks. Ramp (Terminal) is Intermodal area so trucks or containers can be moved from a high platform onto a carrier. Pickle, Strip, & Rack[:I] = other terms for Intermodal Yards (IMS) [:D] Rip track = Repair track. You can't hump the ramp, but you can trick the YM and put the carrier into the strip, and pull racks!
