John,

I have had problems with the super trees bending over and have tried several techniques that were suggested by the article and by the info sheet that comes with the trees. When you dip the trees in the matt medium, soak the heck out of em'. This softens them and gets rid of some of the bend. Hang them upside down with a weighted clothespin attached to the tips to dry after applying the leaves. For stubborn trees I break the stem (don't break it all the way through) in several places and then crazy glue it using zap accelerator to freeze the glue to stiffen and straighten the tree. Another nifty trick to install trees on the layout is to dribble glue down the trunk of the tree and hit it with accererator to glue it to the layout. Just place the tree in position and zap it and you're done. No messy drilling and glueing. It works great if you can stand the smell of the zap accelerator.
