Tender connections
Posted by tatans on Thursday, February 28, 2013 1:59 PM

Noticed a photo of a Berkshire locomotive and the water lines from the tender to the engine, I counted 3 rather large lines connected, along with smaller lines,  these seem to be missing on models of steam locomotives, I have a brass Berk and these lines are not even included, is it possible to purchase these connections seperatley?   looking at other locos on the forum they seem to be missing also, is there a reason they are left off?  What about the prototypical fanatics, is there a reason they are not included?

I've put water lines on one engine.  I used wire insulation.  I pressed one end onto the injector piping on the engine.  The other end goes into a hole I drilled in the base of the tender--it's not really attached.  It looks pretty nice--certainly better than nothing.  And the cost is, how shall I say, minimal.

One reason they are not included is stiffness of the material.

Bachmann tenders are one that many have trouble with.

There are six wires between the HO loco and tender. I have some of those.

The HO Roundhouse locos also have six wires which can be dressed quite nicely.

It can make transporting a loco to the club an issue. Been there, done that.

Another reason, ham handed people will break those easily and then come into the forums ranting.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
