The wgh show is in town this weekend.
Is it worthwhile for two elderly model railroaders to spend $30 to see???
The Lego train ride will draw hundreds of kids. Most with colds.
Are the booths worthwhile?
It was at Valley Forge PA in January 2009............Myself and friends went to it and thought it was a waste of money and time...........but then again there was unforeseen traffic problems (3 mile or more backup on the local highway).
The show is more towards people that know nothing about the hobby ......so there is not much as far as model builders would want to see.........however if you`re new to the hobby then you might find a few things you might want.

Thanks for the info. I think we'll stay home and work on the Aye Ore Ewe (IOU) Railroad. Mountains to finish lakes to fill and trains to run.
I'll provide a differing opinion: I went to Cleveland a few years ago and thought it was worth it. The big manufacturers had booths, which is a major change of pace from what I'm used to.
Look at it more like an industry show than a model railroad flea market.
I will second NittanyLion's comment. I also went to the same show in Cleveland and enjoyed it very much. (Spent the whole day there.) Besides talking to the manufacturers, I really enjoyed the huge FREMO layout. I could have watched that all day long.

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.
I also enjoyed the one in Wash. D.C. (actually northern VA) a few years back. Nice change of pace from the regular shows.
Enjoy

I went to the show at Del Mar ,Ca. just a couple of weeks ago. There were a lot of little kids, and I didn't enjoy that because the young parents are irresponsible. That being said, the show was enjoyable for a number of reasons.
1.This is the only time that the major manufacturers come to the west coast.
2. It IS intended to increase the interest in the hobby and I think it works.
3. This show is more about the hobby than a bunch of guys trying to peddle Athern blue box kits that were picked over 10 years ago.
4. The presence of the major sponsors and the venue lures the large modular clubs to one place at one time ,which I always enjoy.
Despite the huge number of ill mannered kids, I throughly enjoyed my day with the Worlds Greatest Hobby.

Judge from the endless threads on the subject, I would say this is the primary interest of about half our forum members
