The Bachmann Spectrum HO Richmond 4-4-0 comes with an alternate wood load for the tender. Does anyone know if it also includes a funnel shaped smokestack that would be appropriate for a wood burner?
The Bachmann Spectrum modern Baldwin 4-4-0 comes with an extra smokestack of a different length.
Thanks.

Don......
I don't have an answer to your question but the Mantua General used such a stack and I think Precision Scale in Montana still casts one in brass. Mantua parts are still relatively available and turn up frequently on the auctions.

No, mine did not come packaged with a diamond stack or other large cinder-gathering stack. The Spectrum Richmond 4-4-0 is modeled after the Maryland & Pennsylvania prototype, built in 1901. This was relatively late for construction of a 4-4-0 type, and most railroads were using coal or oil by that time. Wood burners can and did operate with straight stacks. The decision on whether to mount a larger cinder-collecting stack (which involves more labor to maintain) would be based not just on the fuel of the locomotive, but the fire hazard presented by the surrounding area.
As Bob mentions, a variety of stacks are available that could be fitted fairly easily. The old Roundhouse/MDC steam locomotives (kit and RTR) came with an assortment of stacks and many modelers will have several of those extras in a parts box or lying around the roundhouse as a scenic detail.

Bob and Bill,
Thank you for the information.
The Richmond 4-4-0 only comes with the straight stack, however, Bachmann does sell the Diamond shaped stack from the Shay.
Contact their parts department for ordering information.
