Posted by Trainboy001 on Saturday, April 21, 2012 3:38 AM

Ok I've been thinking I have a Thomas The Tank Engine in HO scale and I'm trying to recreate the design that HIT Entertainment did by creating a HO scale version of there Day Out With Thomas locomotive down to the point I've removed the motor and i took out the center gear not i want to do is put Kadee Knuckles on both sides so in case my locomotive has to switch it from the front do you guys think its a good idea or can i have have some ideas on how i can make it come to life

HIT Entertainment is, I believe, the British company that produced the Thomas TV show and movies. AFAIK they never created a "full size" Thomas (which apparently you want to recreate)?? In the US there are one or more Thomas engines that do "Day out with Thomas" appearances. They may have been licensed by HIT to use Thomas' image, but I don't think HIT is directly involved in it.

IIRC Thomas was based on a real London, Brighton & South Coast (LBSC) engine, you might want to refer to pics of that for ideas.

This is the Thomas I'm talking about with US Knuckle it is a "dummy"because it has no engine and needs a locomotive to move it

The cartoonish Thomas of the TV show and books is not very close to the actual prototype loco that the original book illustrations were based on.  The Bachmann model follows the cartoon version.  Many of the "Day out with Thomas" representations in the US are dummy engines with real locos pushing the train from the rear.  Over in the UK at places like Dicot Steam Museum you get to see prototype tank engines http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2Yjrl9LOy8

So to be prototypical you don't actually have to pull the motor from your model.
