If you want weird town names we've got them. Depending on my route home I can pass through Moriah (shades of Lord of The Rings), Goginan, and assorted other oddball names. Some of the Welsh ones are good for puzzling tourists too - try saying "Cwmystwyth" (it's a tiny village on the mountain road - name means "Valley of the river ystwyth". Places named "Aber" (as in Aberystwyth) are usually found on the coast (it means "mouth (of the river)"), though quite how Abergavenny manages to be about 50 miles inland is beyond me! I suspect a lot of the weirder ones are in fact English manglings of the Welsh name - how else would you end up with a village named "Bow Street" between Aberystwyth and Borth?
