Evening all

Currently watching Bahn TV and awaiting the call to go pick my parents up from the party they've gone to - thought most of the time it was supposed to be the other way around? Anyway, I'm also going through one of my occasional planning stages - I recently got round to fitting new buffers to a Minitrix N scale electric loco I've had for a while, and am looking again at building a new German layout. If I do go ahead, it'll be a main-line station assumed to be just a few miles outside a large city, as this will allow me to use both the push-pull formations and the express stock I have. I have yet to measure the overall length of a loco and five cars (staging tracks will need to be that long) though this is the obvious next stage - do I need two 4x2 boards or three? It will probably also involve DCC, as most of the locos I have are fitted with can motors and should be simple to convert, also I can use the control gear from my HO layout.

I heard about the RCMP officers this morning - real shock. It's shocking when any law enforcement personnel are killed on the job, but you never expect to hear of it in certain places - Canada being one of those. We had an incident fairly recently where a British policeman was shot on the job, they caught the killer and were able to use evidence gained from the patrol car (the onboard sound recorder was running and caught the whole thing), so the killer won't be out for a long time, but again, it's not something you expect to happen over here. My sympathies to their families and colleagues, let's hope they manage to catch those responsible.

Flip, the censorbot must have got a bit confused there - either that or it broke! Could be it's not always switched on.

Bye for now

Update: Bahn TV are now showing some form of passenger railtour in Mexico - they have a single GP unit hauling streamline passenger cars (including a dome car), a bit different to their usual German expresses!
