Quoote: siberianmo
QUOTE: I was a camp counsellor that summer - actually partial summer, in that the 1953 Jamoboree in Santa Anna, California at Irvine Ranch interrupted my 'work.'

Here's the good part: We took a train from New York City to Santa Ana - B&O coaches with seats converted into "beds." What a great, great adventure for a 15 year old. The stops along the route (more southerly going and notherly returning) were fantastic. The whol thing took three weeks and - get this - cost $300! Can you imagine trying that today?
Ahhh old scout stories.... you should hear my dads from the 57 jamboree.... he got to take the Daylight Express out there to Valley Forge..... Yes that would have been the Southern Pacific Steam Daylight.

Now for the Irvine Ranch.... I am sad to say but it has been started to be developed into housing.... some people are trying to fight it but it's not going anywhere.

And Now for Baseball...... GO ANGELS
