Thanks, Everybody - Five Years in the Model Railroader Forum
Posted by Heartland Division CB&Q on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 9:37 AM

Today is my 5th Anniversary as a member of this forum. I thank Kalmbach for providing this forum, and I thank all the forum members for sharing their model railroading accomplishments and their advice.

In particular, I am thankful for those who have explained photography to me. I still am a long way from being a great photographer, but my pictures are better quality than five years ago thanks to advice in this forum.

Here are a few photos I have posted in this forum.

Garry:

Only five?  Really?  Dang, it seems that I've been reading your posts and admiring your layout FAR longer than just five years.   But then, when you hit my age, Time has a habit of doing whatever it wants and letting you know about it, afterwards, LOL!

Big Congratulations on your anniversary.  Yes

LONG LIVE THE 'Q'!

It's been a pleasure having you here, Garry. You've come a long way in that "short" 5 years and have enjoyed seeing your layout progress.

I really appreiciate the support from you and quite a number of others here in that sad time almost 5 years ago after the loss of my wife. A good friend here on the Forums.

Congrats on your milestone! From the looks of  your pictures, it looks like WE could learn a lot from YOU! Now, you have me curious as to how long I've been on the forums. WOW! It'll be nine years in April. I should be used to time flying by; watching my son grow up, being blessed with 3 granddaughters and a grandson. Sheesh! Thanks for making me feel old.. ok, oldER.

Gosh, time sure flies, doesn't it?  5 years for you, and it'll be 10 years for me in May...on this "new" forum.  I still call it the new one because the old one was really, really bad...especially in the days of 56kB modems.  Smile  BTW, MR's 1st forum (even before the "bad" one) was actually just a "Guestbook"-type idea where Andy S. would post a "Question of the Month" and people could answer it.  I think my 1st contribution to that was about Operations back in 1996-ish.  Yikes...that was 15 years ago.  I think I'm going to go do something else that doesn't remind me of aging...  Smile

Idea

Your post caught my eye, I checked the bill for the first item I purchased for my new empire (SW8) it was dated 1/2/07. Works out to 5 years, I think.
I also have learned a lot from this forum and appreciate all the help I received. In fact I learned more here than from the club I joined.

Having fun.
