Good Morning All: Yesterday I got THREE wires cut and placed but not soldered before the teack testing (read train running) got in the way. I ran some locos that haven't been out of the box in ten years. I messed up several neoprene couplers on the steam locos. Now I've got some more maintence to do. About the December and January birthdays, I always tell newley weds not to have kids with a birthday in those two months because of the "I got you one big present instead of two little ones". Birthday presents mean a lot to an 8 to 12 year old and they don't understand about one gift. To this day my birthday is not a big day that I look forward to and if Stephanie didn't tell me "happy birthday" I wouldn't remember it. To me it's just another day. I didn't even think about it on the forum as I get up before Stephanie and wasn't awere that it was my birthday. Robert: We are going to close the office between Christmas and New Years, if you would like to come down, we will be home the whole week. Just give us a call. I'll e-mail my phone number to you. You can have some tea or coffee but no sweets as the doctor won't let me have them. I don't want to be the only one to make a negative commet but, my feelings have always been that the name of the road should always be spelled out on the loco and caboose. I thought the ones with the name printed out were better then the one with the initials. Jim: One idea that I got from Sassi's book was using a storefront on a lower level to hide the track on the upper level and that's what I'm doing with my upper loop. Another idea was to have a building with two fronts - one on each side to do two different things. I'm using a variation of this idea on my layout, when you stand on the outside you see mountians, when you stand on the inside you will see a retaining wall. I have an around the wall layout with a 2 1/2' receiving area on the door side. Ed: As far as I'm concerned that guy can go to H***. If he doesn't like, the forum there are many places he can go. A lot of these members are young and ask "stupid" questions but I"m sure that you and I ask the same questions at one time or another and someone was nice enought to answer them like they were a new idea. If you will notice, every once and a while we'll get two or three different ideas going at the same time and if you look at the names the younger guys will be in one and the old farts will be in the other, usually their is a little bit of crossover depending on the topic. But we always come back together. I've invited "Rexhea" to join the "coffee shop" but he told me he couldn't keep up with what was being said. I explained that we had several ideas running at the same time and they were just loosley bound together.
