We have one on pernament display here in North Little Rock, Arkansas. It is in front of the Union Pacific Jenks Shops. It is number 6938. When ever the 3985 or 844 come to town they "park" behing the Jenks Shops. The steam locos will be "sandwiched" between the Jenks Shops and the UP 4 th Street Offices. The local "operator" once referred to as the Locust Street Tower Operator is now located in the 4th Street Offices. The Bearing Cross Bridge, the railroad bridge linking Little Rock to North Little Rock, is within walking distance of the 4th Street Offices. This is where I recently took pics of the 3985 (which I thought were pretty good, right Lupo and Noah, but appearantely Bergie doesn't think so as the 18 pics I send him have NOT made "Photo Of The Day"--not even one of them [:(] [V] [:(!] )

Everyone have a good day. [8D]
Why Locust?
To answer your question the Locust Street Tower is name after the street that runs by it. Many of the streets here are named after trees--Walnut, Cedar, Gum, Cypress, Magnolia, Maple, Olive, etc., etc., etc., so I guess Locust is a tree since it is in that grouping of streets. I am not sure if I have ever seen a Locust tree though. [B)]

There is a tree in my front yard that my neighbor calls a gum ball tree. It has a "fruit" about the size of a gumball that drops off the tree into the yard. When you step on them they pop. It is not one of my favorite trees as it is very messy with all of the "gunballs" and frankly I don't like it. I would love to exchange it for a money tree. [;)] Now I wouldn't mind that "fruit" dropping on the group for me to "rake". [:D]
