Larry .. THANKS! ... Your layout looks like a Great Model Railroad.... I just watched one of your videos, and it was quite impressive ... I lived in S. E. MI for many years, and I am familiar with Holly, MI. I return to MI occasionally. Cheers!

Wayne,
Thank you for the compliment!
This was just a moch-up testing some measurements for the joints. The little wood blocks under the BLMA are about 0.040 shy of my measurement, but told me I am good. The finished product will be elevated about 6+ inches above the base board (forgot to mention that). I am using Chooch piers & abutments, that will have some additional parts cast to fit these bridges in this arrangement. With this combination the total span length is 350' scale, with a little gap between the joints, & is 48.25 inches in real life.
Here is a shot of the Exact rails, on the future center piers, I had to finish up those & put ME Shoes on them to complete the math. All the abutments & piers will get base booster pads, because I want to have a highway under one of the feeder spans.
It would make a great duck under, good idea, but everyone will stop & oogle the BLMA....

Clever inclusion of Speedball Tucker- apparently he was a "terror on the highway"... one of my favorite Jim Croce songs. Best lyric of the song is- "95 is the route you were on, it is not the speed limit sign." Nice weathering on the truck too!

Can't answer your trivia. However, this truck reminds me the old "Duel" film from Spielberg... Add a few plates on the bumper and you've got a "killer" truck on the road!

selector I have built a diorama over the past three weeks, the first real modelling I have done in five years. I wanted something for outdoors photography...in the sun, of course, Apart from cropping to rid the final product derived in Combine ZP of its weird edge, a stack of four images, I have done nothing to this. Everything visible to the lens and CMOS chip is depicted unaltered in this image. Nothing has been removed, added, or changed. Crandell

It's an Accurail kit #3898 40' Combo Door Boxcar. I am running ExactRail Finescale all-metal wheel sets in the kits trucks and (plastic) Athearn couplers. I had to slightly modifity the coupler box covers to make the couplers work better and so the truck could sit flat on the bolster. I have an extra set of #5's I plan to put in but I didn't see them untill after I already had the Atheran couplers in. I didn't have any putty/goo so the weight that came with the kit is held in with folded over Duct Tape for now. Next time I hit the store I will pick up some Walthers Goo or equivalent.
All in all I like the kit and enjoyed the short time it took to build. I actually wish it was a little more to it. Next few cars will be the Accurail 50T hopper car and Boswers ACF open sided 70-Ton covered hopper car kits the LHS has in stock. I have a feeling a number of my cars are going to be kit built.
The car itself is painted mineral red (says the box) and is lettered with data only so my next phase will be lettering it for FONDULAC, AMBOY, & PEORIA #13898, and some detailing such as brake lines linkages. After that will come some weathering to reflect a fairly new car.
Although I posted this in the "Show Me Something" thread, I thought it may be good enough to post in WPF. It's a Walthers DM&E hopper with a Ring Engineering EOT on it. Enjoy!

The module still needs some work, but now I start to get happy with it.
WPF seems to be fizzing out. It starts out pretty good and then slowly starts to fade. Is the ( SHOW ME SOMETHING) thread taking over? What do you all think? I really like WPF as much as SMS I hope they both keep coming on strong.

I think most folks are using old photos from their layouts for the "show me" thread. The Weekend photo fun thread seems to call for new photos. That may be where the participation is different.

It's summer time. Things will pick up in the fall. Most pics get posted in the beginning of the weekend. The Show me thread is mostly people's older pics. WPF is mostly newer pics.

I have been enjoying the "show me something" thread and have been using old pics. With trying to get my Sierra to run and my sunset to work I have not taken any new pics for a month. I go through this thread about three times each week, so thanks for those who do have some new photos. I agree that this thread is for new work and I am glad some of you are willing to show it. Maybe next week.
Wow! Very nice little diorama. The first time you posted about it, I tought it would look caricatural, but you proved me wrong.
Your falls turned out very nice. The rock bed showing behind the water on the higher portion is the killer detail... I guess you worked from a real picture to get this! Nice to see some Japanese passenger trains from time to time!
Here's the brewery warehouse that's now underway in Cumberland, shown in position. You may recognize some of the components being resurrected from the junque box. That cold storage warehouse hasn't been on a layout since maybe 1983. It almost made it onto the 1991 Laurel Valley, but proved a little too bulky for the location I wanted it in. So a little cut and paste with some DPM modulars will create a whole new building. A few more views:Note that the loading doors from the rear side of the cold storage have been cut out and relocated on the second level, bringing the truck warehouse closer to the grade of US 40 behind the building. Here's the overview of the location with a sketch plan of the rest of the building:You can see how the loading dock faces US 40. This will be pretty much invisible from the aisle, but I plan to tease it out enough to drop the camera back there on occasion. The main brew house will be a larger brick structure to the right of and attached to the warehouse. It will include a switch and separate siding that will accommodate the requisite grain cars, and maybe a coal dock for power. I've seen photos of the old Queen City brewery with a pile of coal on the side of the building, presumably to power the operation, but it appeared to be dumped from a truck. So I'll bend light a little to create another destination for some Laurel Valley coal...I also finished mechanically and electrically hooking up the interlockings at the west end of the yard, and ran the cable to wire the east end interlockings. Just need to wire the frogs, and put in the machine for North Junction, and the main line will be fully functional.Lee

There was a company call Penn Bay Equipment Company that made mostly truck decals for trucking lines that were from Maine or ran through Maine. The owner passed away maybe 5 years ago and his company passed with him. I have a number of decal sets I got while the company was active.
Merril Transport was and still is a Maine company. This is the latest of 3 Merril trucks that I have made from that decal set. This is the fuel tanker; I have not photographed the box trailer.
Interesting load behind your 0-6-0 John,
It took me a while to figure out what those blue things were. Once I viewed the full picture it was obvious. Good to see your making your trains work for you!
