Good Afternoon everyone,

I spent most of the time on the telephone today, as this was the "show down" day with the doctors in the hospital. The news about my mother are not really good. She needs to undergo some pretty complicated surgery, but is way to weak to have that done. The only good part is, that there seems to be no immediate danger any longer. She will have to re-arrange her life quite considerably, though. How to tell her, that she has to accept outside help? The best would be, that my parents would move into a flat nearby us, so we could support them, but for them leaving their home is out of question. A move to a senior residence is also no issue for them. Although my father gets a sizable pension, it would not be sufficient to pay for that. What to do? I feel a little helpless.

Chris - credit/debit card fraud is a nasty thing. It is for that reason I have given up on internet banking and have gone back to paying cash. I saw a report saying that more than 60 % of all ATM´s are manipulated. They read your debit card details, copy it to a card and empty your account, without you noticing it. I get my cash the old-fashioned way, at the counter. Nice to hear, that the CU has reacted promptly and un-bureaucratically . Hope that your truck will also be OK without you having to spend a fortune on it.

Todd - a friendly moo to you too! Just for info, the baseboards are now in place, so all the work in our flat is completed now.

Galaxy - good to see you back! I am sorry to hear about your health problems. I had the same issue about a year and a half ago. Too many medications which should not have been mixed had put me straight away into the hospital. Talking about quality control at the doctor´s office... I hope you will be fine soon - my [angel] for this!

I am glad, that my old Merc is free of all those gimmicks and gadgets today´s cars have. Any back yard garage can service it and do repairs, if necessary. Do we need all these gadgets? My doubts on that.

You all have a wonderful day!
