Hi,
Which track joiners and soldering tools work best with code 83 flex track? Any other tips on soldering flex track, including right hand turnouts and cross track into the flex track would be great too.
Thank you.
I use a Xytronik controlled temperature soldering station and 60/40 resin core electronics solder, but any low wattage soldering iron of 40 watts or so with a small tip should be okay.
I never solder the rail joiners at a turnout because they are the only piece of trackwork with moving parts, and if anything is ever going to break and need to be replaced, it will be a turnout. They are much easier to remove if they aren't soldered.
