Does anyone remember seeing an article about building a z scale layout in a coffee table? My wife said she would be interested in building that project with me so any info would be helpful Joe.
Hey this pops up from time to time in the forums. My suggestion is to either search here or in the article db for coffee table layout plans.... The plans you'll find will likely be for N scale. Use those, or design your own using similar dimensions.... You'll be much happier with a larger area- more scenic possibilities, wider radius curves,
An idea that comes to mind for a Z scale coffee table would be to look at Dave Vollmer's N scale Juniata division for inspiration. the mainline is a 2 track loop built on a 30x80 door... Yess bigger than your coffee table dimension of 24x40 or 48... but it is one of the most complete small railroads I have ever seen...

HO and N Scale.
After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
