I recently received a battleship gondola kit from Walthers and it is all but impossible for me to put together (I havent even tried it looks that complicated).
Does anyone know of a RTR version that is available, painted, decals on, trucks included?
Between my eyesight and lack of patience... there is no way I can assemble what I have !
Thanks,
Brian
Good morning Brian,
Just a thought here. There are a number of modellers here who have settled on hard times in one way or another and might well enjoy putting that "tub" together for you.
Why don't you just put out a call to them and see what response you might get. we are a very amiable bunch here.
One person who comes to mind might be Ulrich, but he is in Germany and the postage might be a little high, I don't know for sure. But I am sure there are others out there just ask, you'll be surprised.

Hey, thanks for the thought... not a bad idea!
I really like the look of those cars but have never seen a kit as difficult to put together than it !
i've got one (1) resin kit of a flatcar... A FLATCAR!
probably the most difficult to assemble car that I've ever tried... it's still mostly in pieces somewhere. Styrene kits are peanuts compared to those (Blueprint, Red Caboose, Tichy... etc)

If the description had been a bit more accurite I would have never ordered it... but for $49.98 I expect it to be painted and lettered... couples and the trucks would have been nice as well !
I take it we're talking about this one: Walthers Part # 279-2072
it's by Funaro and Camerlengo -- they specialize in resin kits (generally flat -- ie it'll take 5 or 6 bits to make the shell of the body), though the above one is a one-piece shell.
They're the manufacturer of the flat car I mentioned. take immense loads of work (and are annoyingly exacting) to get right -- hence it being relegated to the box it came in.
I've noticed that with the kits I buy (again Tichy, Branchline blueprint series, etc) I end up tossing the trucks anyway and go with Kadee trucks (they look better IMO). I will keep the Kadee wheels in them until such time that they fall apart and/or I get a fair supply of extra Intermountain wheelsets as I've heard mixed reviews of the sintered Kadee wheels, and almost exclusively "Intermountain are great". Alternatively, I could also use P2K, but I've heard that the plastic axle ends tend to get eaten by the Kadee trucks...
Yup, thats the one !!
Evil... pure evil.
not "evil" -- just seriously above my (and, from the sound of it your) skill level at the moment.
Resin kits are the end all and be all of kits insofar as difficulty (in my opinion). Only thing more difficult would be making the castings yourself or scratchbuilding from other materials. Two aspects of the hobby that I want to eventually get involved with... it's a long road before I can get there though
