British Bachmann Silver A4's
Posted by AlecWilliamFry on Saturday, October 23, 2010 9:34 AM

Hello after searching for OO Gauge Silver A4s on the internet for a while, I found two bachmann ones The Bachmann Silver Fox and Silver Link. Anyone know if these are DCC ready and if not does anybody know where I could find possibly the hornby ones.

Kind Regards,

Alec

I'd start here: http://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/

A lot of UK shops ship overseas.

Hatton's is one of the better known ones, although it doesn't appear they have ony in stock. They have Hornby A4's, just not the ones you want. http://www.hattons.co.uk/productList/category_list.asp?c=41

It's really kind of hard to support your local hobby shop when the nearest hobby shop that's worth the name is a 150 mile roundtrip.

Do a web search for Bachmann Trains and you will find their UK web site. It's just like the US you can open the Parts sheets in PFD to see how they are made as well as product information.

Hornby also has a great web site and will show all the information you need.

I have purchased several Hornby engines off Ebay UK with no problems. If you are registered in the US Ebay you can use the same log in on the UK site and add items to your US watch list.

I have not purchased many Bachmann OO gauge engines because most have the old split frame chasie design like the US non-spectrum engines. The newer Hornby engines are just as good as the Spectrum steam and DCC ready or come with Dcc. The newer tender drive Hornby can also have DCC. I kind of like the Hornby tender drive as they will pull the paint off the wall regardless of the size of the engine.
