Hello everyone!! I recently returned from a trip to Montana and I fell in love with it. Everything from Glacier National Park to the historic depot in Whitefish where my train arrived. I am beginning a project based on Montana and the Western Pacific. I really dont care that the railroad and locale dont fit I just like both and the layout isnt based on operation anyway. The new layout is 2'x6' and will sit atop my dresser in my apartment. I am building this as a fun project that I can work on in my free time and as something that I can take with me wherever I go. I am a student at Michigan State University so apartments come and go every 9 months for me, a movable layout is a must. The trackplan is a simple oval design with two stub ended sidings and one run-around track. It is very simple as the emphasis will be placed on visual quality. I am really looking forward to getting this thing to the point where I can run trains (who wouldnt be) but I am determined not to rush it, take my time, and do things right! I will continue to post more photos as time and progress permit, time to get to work! Don

I look at it this way--if I can model Denver and Rio Grande in the northern Sierra Nevada mountains of California, then I'm sure as heck not going to carp about anyone modeling Western Pacific in Montana, LOL!
Good luck on the project, and keep us posted as you progress.
