Looked through the Atlas sight and came upon this, a list of N scale bodies. Included in the list is GP30 and GP35 bodies. The 9er I have is a high nose so the front weight would have to be milled down, but other than that would the 30/35 body fit my frame? I know these locos had different dimensions but I'm not so worried about that in my model.
I ask because I had an idea of using multiple bodies and switching between them instead of having multiple locomotive units. It's just and idea to get things started, after all it would be easier to afford say 3 bodies at $18 each than 3 loco's at $100+ each. Does anyone else do this? The idea came up because I first looked at parts for Atlas to find cab parts to eventually model my 9er as a chop nose rebuild and there were many parts such as frame halves, motors, and even trucks that were listed as fitting mutliple model locos. I then saw the body page (the posted link) and the thought occured to me.
Thanks for sharing.
The truck centers are the same for the GP7/9 and GP30/35 - The fuel tanks are different.
