Brick or stone, wall moulds?
Posted by Lillen on Sunday, March 28, 2010 4:44 PM

Hi,

I'm looking for either large brick moulds or cut stone moulds to cast my own stones with. Or wall moulds. Either cut stone, concrete or brick. I want to cast them using plaster and since I like to paint and do these things myself and save money at the same time I prefer to cast them rather then buying ready made walls from Woodland scenics and so on.

So any suggestions on where I can get them? I've searched but so far I've not been able to find any.

Something like this is what I'm looking for:

http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/785-1259

Thanks,

Magnus

Two suggestions:

1.  Buy one, make a mold, cast to your hearts content.  As long as you don't sell them, there should be no problems.

2.  Cast a plain block of plaster.  Scribe on the pattern you want, then make a mold from that.

Good luck,

Bragdon Enterprises has quite a few really nice molds:  www.bragdonent.com.

I have a few rock wall molds I got from Dave Frary, www.mrscenery.com.  I ran into Dave at the Springfield show this past January, and asked about the molds, since people occasionally inquire about them.  He has sold his mold-making business.  He told me who bought them, but I can't find my notes on that.  So, maybe you can contact him and see if he can tell you.  I really like the molds, and still use them from time to time.

 Magnus,

Conrad in Germany also offers various types of molds,  for brick walls, rock walls etc. Ordering from them may be a little bit more convenient.

You can check there offerings here.

Unfortunately, the web page is available only in German, but shipping can be done world-wide.

Hi Magnus. I made a rock wall for a church scene just as stated above:

Stripwood frame and hydrocal...

Scribed individual stones and painted...

Added mud spatters on the bottom, some weeds as well...

Then installed...

If you do cast and cut/ scribe a "master" as done above, you will have better success crehttp://cs.trains.com/trccs/search/SearchResults.aspx?q=RTV+molds&o=Relevanceating your mold using the 2 part casting silicon RTV over latex. Search the forum, an excellent link was given a few weeks ago on this same casting procedure. Some forum links http://cs.trains.com/trccs/search/SearchResults.aspx?q=RTV+molds&o=Relevance

Thanks a lot for that. There is a swedish Conrad.se but that doesn't seem to have the moulds strangely enough. My german isn't that great so I can not tell how much shipping is to Sweden?
