It's taken the better part of 26 years, but I finally got the last NKP loco for my collection. I now have at least one of each type of steam and diesel loco that the NKP and it's dependent roads had rostered. I'm still gathering cabooses, but for the most part, have a complete collection of them also.
Along the way, I've built an impressive collection of NKP rolling stock, and mow equipment. I've started sketching my layout from notes also accumulated in the same time span. I'm thinking of an NKP museum layout, with roundhouse and loco servicing facilities. I have lots of space, but the museum will be the centerpiece. Next, I want to build a heritage collectio of NS, Sou, NKP, W&LE Wab, LE&W. The NS will be by necessity the operational section of the layout

It sounds like you have an impressive history of power on the NKP and also sounds like you have your work cut out for you. Gathering the locomotives may prove to be the easy part of your railroad when compared to the task of a constructing a large layout with scenery, if you are going at it alone.
Do you have some sort of history with the NKP or is it just a rr that you really like? If you can, post a couple pictures of the collection.
My grandfather used to head up NKP's Security div. in Bellevue Oh. The NKP line ran thru Lorain Oh. a few miles from my home. Since I was a kid, I've always just liked the NKP. R. Staller
