Just a word of thanks for the great folks here that our helping a friend!

I like to thank all the kind folks here that have pledge to help with a coworker wanting to get started in Model Rail Roading. Original post got shut down due a flame war, go figure that people in this great hobby have to fight just about everything? ( I didn't even ask about which was better, DC or DCC )Big Smile

Here is link to the locked post.

Far as the few that suggested that Jeremy is half stepping, besides working full time he is all so back in college to become a architect.

I did speak with Jeremy today and we have a go. He all so has some wood working tools, some lumber and a 4 X 8 section of plywood.

If the kind folks here can follow through (you all have PM's) depending on track section we should be good to go. We have at lease two BB box Athearns and one Proto engine. Way better start than I had. Rolling stock, few buildings, trestle set, few turnouts and DC power supply.

On Jeremy coming over to run trains. My days off are Monday and Tuesdays, he is off Thursdays and Wednesdays. He all so lives in Fenton MO, I live in Maryville IL, round 60 miles each way. Sure NO ONE wants him to waste GAS MONEY! Whistling

One person suggested I should give him one of my BLI, my BLI are steam engines. That is the last thing a new person needs! Something that does not like imperfect track and need to be fixed if it is ran a lot.

I was all so told that one of the less kind people here has been PM the kind folks here that have offered help NOT TO SEND ANYTHING! Disapprove I just don't get why some one could be so mean spirited?Confused

I am 95 percent sure this post will be locked down soon. Funny thing when I was into cars, mainly MOPAR I had around 9000 post on the Charger site. I don't remember any locked posting? Guess MOPAR people our nicer than MRR people?

Time to make a few more coal loads for Simon 1966.

For the folks that our helping, thank you.

Hi!

I read the original posts on a regular basis until (of course) it was locked.  Having been around the block a few times, I could see both sides of the story.  But, I figured if someone wanted to donate they would, and if they didn't, they wouldn't.  No big deal either way.   Ha, obviously I was wrong.........

It did bring to mind memories of working at the Durkee Foods edible oil refinery in Louisville back in the late '60s.  We processed all kinds of vegetable oil into "oils & shortenings", and sold to the food industry and restaurant chains.  We had a large test kitchen when thoroughly tested each batch of product.  In doing so, "mass quantities" of cake layers, pound cakes and Danish pastries were made daily.  Some of this made its way to the employee coffee rooms, but the majority was picked up by a charitable organization for distribution.

This was great, and lasted for a number of years - until a couple of other organizations got wind of it and wanted "their piece of the pie" (pun intended).  A lot of difficulty resulted, and management finally decreed that all test kitchen product would either go to the coffee bars - or the dumpster.

 Hey, ENJOY !!!!!

I visit another model railroading forum that does not have the problems with flame wars and huge egos that seems to be the norm here.  It's not MRR people in general, just some of the MRR people who are regulars here can't be civil and can't stand to NOT comment even when they have nothing constructive to say.

If I didn't think the shipping from Canada would be killer I have a bunch of brass sectional track I would donate...but he probably doesn't want brass anyway...

Best of luck to you and Jeremy.

Fow what it's worth, Ken is one of the good guys around here. His modeling has progressed by light years in a relatively short time as well.

Huzzah to Ken. His previous thread is living proof that no good deed goes unpunished.

This is the only forum I use that gets topics locked or removed. I think its lame. Its like a bunch of old ladies in charge here. They should let everyone have their opinion, not just the opinions they like. This is the internet isn't it?

BTW I'm sure this will be removed just like all my other posts like this...........lame

Hi again!

IMHO, the quickest way to have this website go downhill is to remove the moderators and their oversight function.  Without that, we will end up in chaos, and lose the real purpose (to promote and aid the MR hobby) of the site.

From what I have seen over the last few years, the typical postings that were locked had reached the point of "enough is enough".

Hey folks, life may be kicking you in the butt these days, but please use this site as your learning and teaching tool (and sometimes pacifier), rather than your punching bag.

ENJOY !!!!!

Ah, but you quote me as though I said the other forum I visit has the same problems but the threads run unchecked!  Not true!  The other forum I visit does not have the proliferation of threads requiring moderation that this one does.

I'll agree that the moderators here are quick to call a post "Kalmbach bashing" and delete it.  It's actually kind of funny, even though it's not, really.

Keep in mind that while this is the internet, it is Kalmbach who owns and maintains this forum.  It's their forum, not ours.  Free speach is not something that has been gauranteed here.  We are all welcome to participate so long as we obey the rules Kalmbach has set.

It's funny how this fact is somehow lost on people. They somehow think they have the "right" to say and do as they wish. That belief very arrogent and "Lame".

I didn't mean that other forums go unchecked , I am simply saying these guys jump the gun too much. It's funny that other train forums that I visit don't have these kind of things get blown all out of proportion like this site.

I don't know about these guys jump the gun as it is that we seem to have people on here who get all excitable about the dangest things sometimes. I've seen threads disappear that had responses from people that had nothing at all to do with the OP to begin with. Sigh

If we tried to be a little less crabby on these things maybe we wouldn't find this happening---

HAHAAHAAAA!!! This post is getting hairy too!!!!

Let's talk Mopar. I've got a '66 hardtop signet, with the butt hiked up. Silver, with black hood&trunk stripes (I paint), and it's the original interior. Front seats and seatback tops are sunfried, but recovered..... as far as the dash and headliner (and the console & shifter woohoo!!) I'd have to say this is onme of the more virgin mopars around me. I've bolted on some stock rallye wheels and they look sharp, now I need to do some bodywork around the corners, and find some NOS or nice trim, and it'll look like a new car! I have an older pic here, before some of the work.....

Soon to come would be a full seat cover kit, some leaf spring helpers, and of course something like a 4bbl and headers to make the six growl a bit better. I sure would miss my 23mpg if I ever dropped in a V8.....
