#78 Kadee Couplers
Posted by wholeman on Sunday, December 27, 2009 4:44 PM

I have some Athearn Trinity 5161 cu. ft. covered hoppers.  Kadee recommends that I use #78 couplers.  This means that I have to use the coupler box that came with the couplers.  What are these couplers designed to do?  I put #58 couplers in these cars with the original coupler boxes and they seem to work OK, but the cars seem to be a little too far apart coupled togethers.

What are thoughts?

Thanks for the replies in advance.

Check the Kadee website under HO Conversions. They show how to install the #78 on Athearn Trinity cars.
