1950 Ford Vehicles
Posted by don7 on Sunday, December 6, 2009 5:58 PM

I came across the news that Atlas will no longer distribute the Masterpiec Industrial vehicles,

Unfortunately that line of vehicles included the 1950 Ford automobile. I guess the good news is that the vehicle does look good and that sooner or later someone will distribute it. But until then we will just have to wait. The vehicle certainly seems more detailed that the just released CMW 1950 Dodges.

The only other company that offered the 1950 Ford was Alloy Forms. I have one & heard the mold broke shortly after I bought mine. I'm sure someone will release one, or you can search the train shows or ebay.

I have a CMW 1950 Dodge in Meadowbrook Green sitting (that I just bought at one of our LHS last week) on the shelf above my computer, and it appears to compare favorably to the photo you posted of the Atlas Masterpiece Ford.

However, the demise of the Masterpiece line prior to the release of (for me) the long awaited 1950 Ford is sad news.  Hopefully someone can get the line out the current problem and back into production.  Since Atlas didn't specify the problem, we can only speculate, but one possibility seems to be the current lowering of the Dollar vs foreign currencies, which could have taken the price from their supplier out of sight.

Or maybe not, since CMW's products are made in China.  Maybe CMW could do a Ford.

I agree that CMW Dodge is a nice model, the only criticism I have is that the draft windows were not outlined as were they on the 1950 Ford.

Otherwise, you are right they are quite comparable.

I would guess the next 50's automobile will be the 1956 Dodges that were posted on the CMW site so time ago.
