They can be bought at Michaels

A replacement for ground foam?
They look like a good idea. I'll have to go to Micheal's the next time I'm in Alexandria and have a look at them. Checked Wal-Mart's site and no dice.

I believe they are a Michael's exclusive. I've used several on my layout with good results.

Yep.
Been a thread or two... here are what they look like in the store.

I just purchased and "dissected" a few. The back side looks like it would make a good wood-chip load. Does anyone want to part with some HO scale wood chip hoppers?

HI: This is an OLD topic, I was looking for Pot toppers at Michaels and didn't find them, asked the personel and they didn't know what I was talking about.
E-mailed customer service, got an answer, that it is something they no longer carry, but will submit it to their purchasers and maybe they will be available again. MAYBE.
Sam
They were in the artificial flowers section at a Michael's in Tucson, Ariizona last year. They are tops for flower pots, so you need to look in that section.
Mikec6201Hey thanks a lot everyone for the info. Looks like a trip to Michaels is in the future. Only $3.00 !!!!! Mike
Silflor's only $30 including shipping. Wait..WHAT! $3.00!!!
I'm leaving now.......

call the national customer service help line with the item number (sku#) which I have somewhere, they can look them up on the computer and tell you which stores have them in stock, in the store they are with the clay pots
Micheal's or AC Moore recently had a 50% off your entire order coupon and I went in to two different Micheal's and cleaned them out of pot toppers. The looks I was getting form some of the old bitty's was priceless. Walked up tot he register and the young girls took one look at me and said model railroader? She told me her dad is an HO modeler and he makes her bring them home all the time. We had a pleasant conversation about trains.
Here is the sku # 412811 I used some on my mining section. They are between the rails.
Only fault I found with them is the base is a little thick. I been playing around with thinning the base. (I had all ready cut of the brown flip side off). You can hide the edge with some ground foam, or in my case ballast.

That's it. I am heading over to my local Michael's store this morning.
For some reason, this stuff reminds me of Chia Pet, don't know why.
Hey, there's an idea for landscaping material !

Rich, look at there fake fur as well! They make good tall grass with some work.
I have had the good fortune to obtain some Basket-liner made by Gardman in the UK (a Jute-Sisal product), It is such good value for the money. A 2´ x 5´ piece is $10.
It is very easy to work with as well. I have tried it out and here is a pic of how it looks:
