BLI "Huge" at Hartford, CT

My first image posting, I've got my non computer savvy brain cells crossed. If it works I'll post a few more of BLI's newest.

CZ,

I'm trying to delete a multiple posting of Centipede; guess I'll have to ask Bergie to remove one with three(?) images the same. I've got Q2 images to post; no Athearn. Hopefully others can fill in.

guess I'll have to ask Bergie...

Alas and alak, Bergie is gone.  He's moved on to another position in the world of IT.

We miss you Bergie, but the forum is in good hands.

I think they would look pretty silly even on 22" radius curves, looks more at home on 30" or more.

I'd say they'd even look silly on 30". 48" would be reasonable.

I think they're absolutely fascinating.  But somehow, every time I look at the wheel arrangement, I keep thinking that they should have catenaries and be pulling trains through the Cascade Tunnel, LOL!

• Minimum radius: 22” radius or greater recommended.

That usually means anything under 21.75" radius, forget about it or have a net underneath the curve Wink

Let us suggest that 48" would be minimum-----Whistling

With these guys any kind of overhang would be ridiculous----

Only 55 of these 3000 h.p. 2-D+D-2 locomotives were built in the immediate post WWII years.  They were Baldwin's first attempt at a road diesel locomotive.  Each locomotive was uniquely built, making them difficult to maintain.  Ugly brutes, aren't they?  Come to think of it, Baldwin's diesels were all ugly brutes.  Some people find that appealing.  (I've got three Baldwin diesels of another sort on order.)

They are so ugly that they start to look beautiful! Why does the front remind me of Dopey? Must have been one of Disney´s artists who designed it!

Were I still in HO-Scale -- and one of these Baldwin "Babyfaces" is a strong incentive to return -- and if I had a layout space allowing for 36" radius curves I wouldn't mind having a couple of these things. I would probably prefer one of the A1A-A1A truck or even one of the B-B truck versions of the Babyface but I suppose I could live with one of these "Centipedes"!

Baldwin must have had an "interesting" design department---Whistling

Mind--a GMD with A1A-A1A wheelsets would be nice---Whistling Those were not very numerous---
