Sounds like an interesting conversion. Why not post the pictures for the forum members to review.

It involves loading your pictures on to a separate site such as photobucket and then tranferring the links to the forum page. Go to the first page of the forum and look under FAQs. Scroll down to POSTING and you will find the directions for posting photos there. I hope this helps.
Go to www.photobucket.com and sign up there, it's free. Photobucket hosts pictures on the web for people. You'll go to your main page, they'll be a box in the upper right area says upload. It'll go to yur MY Pictures on your computer automtically, so you can select the pictures you want to post.
(Microsfot tip: If you have a bunch of pictures you want to upload at once, drag and drop them in your my pictures so they are next to each other, or if your out of room, below, left to right. Click on the first picture, hold down the shift key, click on the last picture. It should highlight all the pics in between)
In your m pictures, or whereever the folder is, click "open". It will close out My Pictures, and Photobucket will have a list of all your pictures. Click "upload", go get a drink cause it can be slow sometimes, and when you come back, the pics will be below. Then put your mouse over the picture, a drop down of 4 links will appear. You want the last one, marked [IMG] click on it, then press the CTRL and C keys on your keyboard, come back to this page, and press CTRL and V. To paste the link in. You can also right click, but I prefer the keyboard cuts

ESPEE LIVES
Oooooh!...Way cool! Not my modeling era, but I WANT ONE!! (or two). You're right, one these in Black Widow scheme would look awesome, maybe I need three.
Is ebay about the best place to find these? Great job ESPEE LIVES.
Does it run OK with the axles not in the center of the wheels?
Mark
Nice job, Rich. The wheel spacing has always been the sticky wicket with these units, but you're right that from a distance it won't be very noticeable. The U-Boat frame fits inside the KM chassis beautifully. I've tuned the old ball bearing motor in mine so that runs very smoothly, but honestly, what were they thinking? Two powered axles?
There's a video on YouTube of a pair of repowered KM's pulling a consist on a club layout.

Nice conversion! That's a lot easier than one I saw before, where a guy machined two entirely new trucks (and probably a frame too) and put a Hobbytown driveline in it. It had the correct wheel spacing, but man! That had to be a LOT of work!
There must have been inconsistent quality control with Rivarossi, because my KM is a pretty smooth runner.

ESPEE LIVESI don't have any additional in progress photos and I really think not much would be gained by me disassembling my KM for more detailed on how I did it , but the photos that I have provided is pretty much all of the modification that is needed to re power the ***. All that is left is just to reassemble it. Rich
Sorry, I posted that before you got the rest of them up. Actually though, if yuou have time, it might do well to move those pictures up into your original post, so we can see the steps?
ESPEE LIVESMy problems with the Rivarossi KM's is that even though they ran ok at higher speeds they still had the oversized wheel flanges and were not able to operate on anything smaller than code 100 track and could not really pull very well with only 2 axles powered out of the 6.
Isin't that pulling power about right for the prototype though?
Hi
Congratulations, very nice job . My home is in Argentine, and take me time to obtain an uboat loco. In the original loco, do you know how to replace the original back coupler for a kadee coupler ??
Yours - Guillermo
The best way is to remove the rear coupler box from the truck and screw mount a Kadee coupler box to the frame, with a big spacer to get the proper height. It's best to use a Kadee Whisker coupler, so then you can trim the rear half of the coupler box off and move it farther in for closer coupling.
Right Darth, thanks a lot for the information
Guillermo
That K-M is still a nice looking locomotive.
