Right on about Alco's!! I witnessed the Blacklands Railroad in Sulphur Springs, Texas fire up an RS3 for the first time a few years ago--they were watering the engine when we first arrived. The crew told me it would take a while and my wife agreed to wait--3 hours!! I had never seen a RS3 in action before--saw a RSC-2 in Panama. It was worth the wait and I still thank my wife to this day for her patience!!! There is no such thing as a "bad" Alco--at least from a railfan point of view!!

My wife even agreed to vacation in Springdale, Arkansas so I could see the A&M's Alcos!! They even had a couple of C424's in BRC paint at the time!! I guess I can consider my wife as the Alco of wives--just don't tell her I said that!!! She was born a few days before Alco delivered their last ever diesel.
