MTH texas special Smoke unit
Posted by Texspc on Thursday, January 1, 2009 11:10 PM

 Hello

My son received a texas special for christmas. In the process of figuring out the features it appears we have blown out the smoke unit. I took apart the loco and the fan is spinning but the wick/element looks to be pretty black. Is this normal ? Also there is a rubber piece that fell out somewhere that i think fits between the smoke unit fan and the holding reservior. Can anyone provide a pdf diagram or picture of howthe smoke unit fits together? Your help would be greatly appreciated as i would at least like to have it assembled before taking it in for a repair.

Hi Texspc, welcome to the forum. Sign - Welcome You will probably have better luck with O scale troubleshooting advice over on the Classic Toy Trains side of the forum.

While I'm not familiar with MTH smoke units, it is normal for the fiberglass wick to blacken from the heat, but you have that rubber part falling out, and that isn't a good sign. I would contact MTH customer service if you can't get it resolved.
