your new web sight
Posted by Marree Mixed on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 6:39 AM

I believe you have killed a good web sight . This one is so slow there will be grass at the south pole before some of it shows up on the screen. Getting in to the forums requires a renewal of your password what a load of rubbish.?Not happy MR.

1} sight= to see     site= location.       This is a web site- as in location on the web.

2} MR did this a few months ago, so you are late in seeing the new and improved version! Many have already entered their complaints about various things that changed, including myself. Visit more often and you will learn to like it.

3} EVERYONE had to re-sign on after the transition with their info. SO you are not alone.

4} If you are on dial-up I can see it taking time to load for you. There are a lot more graphics here now. If not, then you may have caught it at a web slow time, it happens to all sites periodically.

5} Unless you are a subscriber to their mags, what do you want for FREE ???

I started after the changes so I didn't have the 'issue' of re-signing on. But yes it will be slow if you are on dial up. Hence the issue with being slow---I am on an ISP (Internet Service Provider) that has a series of services that goes from 'Ultra-lite', which is still MUCH faster than dialup to 'extreme' which gives you all kinds of downloading power(or whatever). I'd suggest checking that out---it might not take so long.....and yes if you try doing this when everyone else is on it is going to be slow.

I've had only a very few minor problems with it, all of which have been remedied by myself. While I'm not on Dial-up or DSL my cable connection is one of the slower ones at 256 kbps upload speed. The site loads in 5 to 8 seconds in 10/100 mode, 1 to 3 seconds in 100/1000 mode. If I go to my parents place and use their computer the site loads instantly. They have a 3,072 kbps (3 mb) upload speed that makes mine look like a snail. Even using their old Dell Notebook (slower than molasses on a snowbank) I can still access the site within 20 seconds.

Still cheap at twice the price though!! I used to spend a lot of time over at the Fender (guitar) Forums, but they now won't let you post in many of their forums without paying $30 a year.

I've noticed alot of the people complaining has a post of 1 or so.  Then you don't hear from that person anymore.  I guess its another person on here, just hiding.  Rather use another name,  than having theres bashed.

Uh...this site is anything but dead!  Check the number of threads and topics on a daily basis and you'll see it is actually  quite "lively":--especially in some threads.

Oh, and Merry Christmas to you.

The issue of lurkers, etc and who is on line should be dropped until the site is corrected to recognize everyone who has logged on. I visit the site more than once everyday and am logged in but my ID never appears unless I make a post. Therefore, I'm considered to be in the class of lurkers.

This doesn't really bother me but the discussions of lurkers (?) is pointless.

As for the rest of the site I find it to work well, but I don't see that much improvement over the old one.

Change is inevitable, struggle is an option. Go with the flow.
