OK, I think I've figured out what is going on. I administer another BB that uses different software. The avatar is actually the graphic that goes where our "stars" for number of posts are showing up. Some admins seem to have official avatars. see Bergie's post at [url]http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13051[/url]. So they must have it set up so that users don't have access to this feature. Thus the only way to add a personalized graphic is in the signature. And YES, it should be kept very small!
