my little girl dropped it and now the trucks want stay in/connected to the frame. everytime i pick it up off the rails the trucks stay on the track and i have the frame all in my hand. i tried pushing down on the locomotive to make the trucks stay or snap in and stay but it want. the locomotive still runs flawlessly is there anyway this can be fixed or will i have to deal with this problem the rest of my life. also are there any n scale train clubs in the greater cincinnati, ohio area that i can join and share my collection with.

Im not familiar with N scale Kato, but it sounds like a plastic connecter piece broke, and if so your most likely out of luck.

As I'm unfamiliar with "N" scale I'll take a stab at it. I suspect what you have is a system that has "tabs " on it. And what has happened is the drop has either snapped the tabs off or bent them in so they don't keep the wheel set "plugged in " anymore.

Check the wheel set to see if there is any deformity on the turret and if they seem bent in then slowlty and gently bend them out until straight.

If there is a metal containment ring on the turret make sure it is properly seated.

In other words look for deformities and see if you can correct them.

If the 4400 is like the Dash 9 there are ears molded on the truck tower and most likely there now broke off.You might check with KATO to see if they have new ones available.

THANKS FOR ALL THE INFO GUYS. I TOOK A LOOK AT THE TRUCKS AND SURE ENOUGH THE MOLDED EARS ON ONE SIDE OF BOTH THE TRUCKS ARE BROKEN OFF. ANOTHER QUESTION HOW MUCH DO THESE TRUCKS COST AND DO YOU THINK IT WOULD BE OK TO RUN THIS TRAIN AS OR GO AHEAD AND REPAIR. IT RUNS LIKE THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT EVEN WITH THE MOLDED EARS ARE BROKEN OFF.
