Worm Removal
Posted by loathar on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 8:36 PM

Kind of made the mistake of buying one of these.

Not trying to bash Dan or Yardbird here, but after my second one that also runs like garbage, I'm just opting to remove the worm and mount and use them on a CD Rom motor I already have that runs a LOT better. Any tips for removing the worm from the shaft? (WITHOUT buying a $20 mini gear puller) Also any tips for pressing it back on the new motor. I have a feeling pressing the gear on is what caused the problems on the two units I had.

Never mind...I got it. Runs pretty darn good now. The fly wheel effect of the large brass worm is really nice compared to the old open frame.
Hmmm...might actually be worthy of a Tsunami now.Whistling [:-^]

I have dealt with Dan for a couple years. He sells good stuff.

He has a Yardbird Yahoo Group.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
