Tech 4
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, March 21, 2004 10:44 PM
Hi Im looking at a DC controller (i call them controllers) and have found the tech 4 line to be quite reasonable, specifically the 240 and 260. Anybody used these? Are they any good?

And If you live in the GTA whose got the best prices?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

i have 4 tech 2 and 1 tech 4. The tech 4 is a little better in one respect , if I put 3 or 4 locos on the track it has the power for it . The tech 4 is 17 VA the tech 2 is 16VA. The one thing i dont like about the tech 4 is the momentium is faster responding than the tech 2. Not as realistic. Excelerating the tech 2 takes longer to get up to speed and the break switch takes longer to slow a train down then the tech 4. They are both excellent controllers. Good luck, Joe

I have a Tech II Loco-motion 2500 as one of my controllers. It's a great little rig and for the past 9 years has been very reliable. If I saw another one at a show I would definately pick it up.

If one could roll back the hands of time... They would be waiting for the next train into the future. A. H. Francey 1921-2007

I use the Tech 4 280. Its a super nice controller. In fact most everything I ever used from MRC has be good. The DualPack I used years ago was one of the best DC power transformers I ever had.

I run my layout with two Tech 4 220's. I can put 4 loco's on at time without a problem.
