"Unwarping" a Magnuson Model
Posted by barrok on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 9:58 AM

Hey everyone!  I just recently purchased an older Magnuson HO scale Brachs Candy Factory components on Ebay -- unfortunately the pieces are warped.  Any ideas on how to straighten them out?  I tried putting weight on top of them for a week, but no change.  They went back to their warped position as soon as I removed the weight.  I am not sure what the wall pieces are made of.  I think the kit is resin; it is defintely not plastic!  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello try putting them it hot water with the weight on them and let the water cool they should stay or be closer. You may have to do twice. Hope this helps Frank

I built that kit years ago and I had a different problem-the walls were different heights!!!! As for the warping, if you glue one corner a night it should cover most of it.

Mine doesn't move.......it's at the station!!!

Drop them in boiling water for about 30 seconds, this should make them quite plyable .... if not, try a little longer. Once they are plyable, place them on a flat surface until they cool.

I soaked them in warm water for 20 minutes, wrap them in paper towel and sandwich it between to very large books for a couple of days.... should be fine.

When the men get together its always done right! J. Daddy
