Model railroading has NEVER been cheap so here is a fact for me, The price increase will not affect my spending habits one bit. I do not buy a ton of items nor am I well off (wealthy) I am just saying a $100 engine is expensive but I pay the price in fact I paid for many of them. I do not need many engines but I do buy them. I have been "collecting" Atlas flextrack and turnouts for four years and now I have hundreds of pieces tucked away. I started doing that when track SHARPLY rose from $1.50 to about $2.50 in a year or two so I decided it will never go down so I will buy it to have in stock 2, 5, 10, or even 15 years down the line when I rebuild a new layout. So what prices are going up and I am sure it will be sharply but oh well big deal. But hey remember last year or so when Atlas had a 10% mark up announced too?
