Is it safe to assume that you have DCC? If so, the decoder probably needs to be reprogrammed, and you will have to determine what brand of sound decoder is in it so you can download the manual from the manufacturer's Web site. You wrote that the wires had been cut? Why? Who cut them?

Sorry, but I have no experience with any Rivarossi product with built-in sound and don't recall ever reading that they made such a product. From what you describe, it must have a wiper on a tender axle that makes contact as the wheels turn to produce the sound, and the sound unit is nothing more than a noise generator. I have seen a sound car sold by, I believe, IHC, that works on the same principal. The speaker in yours may have a torn cone from too much volume. The add-on car sound unit can get to be very irritating if the volume is set too high. As far as the wire connections are concerned, I can't help you in this regard. Have you checked to see if Rivarossi has information about this on their Web site, if they have one?
