Here's the deal, everybody comes to the party with one section of code 100(yes 100 not 83)Atlas flextrack and some food. No other gift required, unless you want to be generous and bring a #6 turnout(left or right). In case of good weather, the pool is open. Yes, I do live in the eastern end of the middle of almost nowhere, but getting there is 90% of the expense!
i expect nobody to actually show up, but it would be so cool if this actually ever happened, like the local amish building their barns

Probably. The front of the layout is more important visually than the need for trouble free(oversized)trackwork in the center and back.

Hey! You aren't too far from me. Head west on 422 and you'll run right in to Hershey. (sorry but I haven't heard of Womelsdorf either! And I thought I knew bout every town in the state...sheesh) Anyways w/the price of gas you're still too far, but if you're in Hershey this summer with the tourists from NJ and NY I'll give you a piece of code 100. Hershey isn't far at all. We're actually in Tulpehocken and that's not on any maps that I've seen. Womelsdorf is shown in the Trains and Locomotive episode titled, Rambling Runbys.
Birthday isn't until August 15th. With any luck, my benchwork will be started by then. The diorama section should be finished by then.

I just celebrated my 69th. this past Saturday. Does that count for a section of track??? (Peco "N" scale standard, please.) It is a bit of a drive from Toronto, Canada so I will understand if you start the party without me.
As it is a bit of a drive to bring food, would it be OK if I just pick up a Kids Meal at your local Micky D's for the Pot Luck???

Seriously tho, this is a fun idea but totally impractical for forum members to participate in. I say for your 70th, someone should paint a boxcar in your honor. Or a "70 years of Blue Flame" natural gas tank car?

Ed: The closest mrr shop to you is in Lebanon. Called "Draud's Derailment". Nice folks who run it but they have weird hours and you should always call ahead to make sure they're open before making the drive. They are located right on the main drag / Rt.422 / downtown.

Actually, there's a guy called Brian and his self named shop with even fewer hours of operation in Myerstown. I'm never going there thanks to his former location's association with a very nasty creature running the gift shop. They know me at Draud's. My sons made a huge scene by not wanting to leave there a few weeks ago. It is kinda odd to have part time hours in such a large store, but if they own the property and the mortage is paid, the usual biggest expenses are gone so I guess they are making money. Nice resturaunt a few doors down and a good looking musical instrument store. Not really a bad little downtown area. I never did find the hobby store in Reading. Then again since my benchwork is a working at a geologic pace I'm in no rush.

I spent 41+ years in the employ of the local Gas Company here as a Serviceman & Supervisor until I was forced out with early retirement in '97. It may not be a bad idea re. the commemorative tank car.
